Spin of Misfortune
Spin of Misfortune is a privately operated, interactive livestream game created by Nerd Bird Mafia. It combines word puzzles, contestants, audience voting and unpredictable game events in a format designed for live audience participation.
How the Game Works
Three contestants are randomly selected from viewers who join through livestream chat. Contestants compete through multiple puzzle rounds, including Quick Reveal puzzles, three main rounds, Final Rush and a bonus puzzle.
During their turns, contestants may spin the wheel, select eligible letters, buy vowels or attempt to solve the puzzle. Audience members can also participate in timed votes that influence certain events, advantages and misfortunes.
The game interface and host controls are privately operated by Nerd Bird Mafia and are not available as a public software service.
YouTube API Usage
Spin of Misfortune uses YouTube API Services during active Nerd Bird Mafia livestreams to receive new public live-chat activity.
The application uses public chat activity to:
- Add viewers to the contestant pool when they submit the join command
- Receive permitted commands from active contestants
- Process puzzle answers and letter selections
- Collect audience votes during timed events
- Display public participant names as part of the game
- Support interactive livestream participation
The application does not request YouTube passwords, access private messages, upload or modify videos, or sell YouTube API data. The YouTube connection is activated only for scheduled game sessions and is disconnected when the game is not in use.
Access and Availability
Spin of Misfortune is operated exclusively by Nerd Bird Mafia during selected livestreams. The application is not offered for download, resale or general public administration. Viewers interact with the game through the public chat attached to the applicable livestream.
Participation is free. Standard YouTube features such as advertisements, memberships or voluntary Super Chats may generate revenue for the Nerd Bird Mafia channel, but access to the game is not sold to viewers.
Privacy and Data Handling
Public YouTube display names, channel identifiers, chat messages, message timestamps and related public participation information may be processed temporarily to operate the game.
