UPDATE: Haylee’s family announced on social media that the teenager was found safe.
On August 9, 2022, Haylee Cummings went missing from Muncie, Indiana resulting in a statewide Silver Alert. Haylee had reportedly left her home that morning to go to the bus stop, but her parents later discovered that she hadn’t boarded the bus or attended school that day. There is a belief that Haylee may have left Indiana and could currently be in the Cartersville, Georgia area, accompanied by a man she met on social media.
Haylee is characterized as standing at 5 feet and 4 inches tall, weighing approximately 150 pounds. She has brown hair and eyes. At the time she went missing, Haylee was attired in a light-colored shirt, with yellow and white pants with floral patterns, and she was wearing checkered Vans shoes.
It’s important to note that Haylee Cummings had previously been reported missing in early 2022 and was located about a week later in Bartow County, Georgia.
The suspect involved in her previous disappearance was arrested and charged with interstate interference with custody and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Due to Haylee’s January disappearance, a valid protective order has been issued, prohibiting the suspect from contacting the 17-year-old.
In response to her disappearance, local law enforcement in Muncie took official action by assigning an investigator to her case on August 19, 2022. Additionally, a silver alert was issued on the same day to help raise awareness and gather information about Haylee’s whereabouts.
The criteria in Indiana for the State to issue silver alerts include endangerment for adults or children; even though Haylee has gone missing previously, there seems to be a concern from law enforcement due to Haylee’s age and previous incidents with adults trying to groom and/or traffick the minor.
Anyone with information about Haylee or her whereabouts is urged to contact the Muncie Police Department at 765-716-9852 or call 911.
