Alexander Zabel Jr. has been charged with resisting arrest following an alleged incident involving the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.
A misdemeanor criminal complaint filed in Pima County Justice Court charges Zabel with one count of resisting arrest through passive resistance, classified as a Class 1 misdemeanor. The case was filed under case number CR26-011309-MI in Precinct 1.
According to the complaint, the alleged incident occurred on or about June 11, 2026. Prosecutors accuse Zabel of demonstrating passive resistance intended to “impede, hinder or delay” his arrest, allegedly violating Arizona Revised Statute § 13-2508(A)(3).
The filing identifies the Pima County Sheriff’s Department as the investigating agency and lists Deputy Robert Avila as the reporting officer. The complaint was signed by Deputy County Attorney Samantha Walker on July 30.
A summons issued in the case orders Zabel to appear at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at the Pima County Justice Court, located at 240 N. Stone Avenue in Tucson.
The summons warns that a warrant may be issued for Zabel’s arrest if he fails to appear as ordered.
The court documents do not provide further details about the circumstances leading to the alleged resistance. Zabel is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
